I am a sixth generation metal artist, a granddaughter of Holocaust survivors, and an interfaith advocate, originally from Los Angeles. Upon my graduation from San Francisco State University, I began my career as a metal artist, creating Judaica and jewelry. I exhibit and sell my unique metal art internationally. My art has been acknowledged in these humbling ways: endorsed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and by Pope Francis; voted “Best Jewish Artisan Craftsperson in San Francisco” from the readers of the J. Jewish News Weekly; inclusion of one of my evocative mezuzahs in the Jewish Museum of New York’s permanent collection; created the mezuzah for the front entrance of the National Museum of American Jewish History; had one of my Barbed Wire Mezuzahs travel into space on two space shuttle missions; and, commissioned to create the crown for the Women’s Torah Project, one of the first documented Torahs scribed by a community of women from around the world. I grew up, became a Bat Mitzvah and was confirmed at TIOH! Now, I live in San Francisco with my husband David Casella and son Kaleb. Thank you for shopping my artwork. Shop using Code: HM20

The process of creating is as important to me as the end product. Almost everything I’ve been proud of producing is something which I have made, as much as possible, from start to finish. When I explored the dyeing process it became clear to me that my woven cloth could only incorporate yarn which I dyed. In fact, one piece used fiber which I dyed, spun and then wove. So, of course, purses I create must incorporate at least a sliver of my hand dyed, handwoven fabric!

OUR MISSION is to extend the value of the spirit in which the people of a community come together in an effort to achieve a common goal; by promoting and preserving the skills, crafts, and heritage of artisans from areas most affected by natural disasters, poverty, or overdevelopment.
JENNIFER SHUM ABELEV is the Los Angeles-based social entrepreneur behind NEEPA HUT. Her desire to make a positive impact was sparked by spending time with artisan communities in Southeast Asia. Seeing the women practice their respective crafts, she was struck by their ingenuity and perseverance, despite their humble surroundings. Motherhood, for her, took on a new significance after spending time with these women. Consequently, she traded her career in finance for a new challenge, focused on preserving the heritage of Southeast Asia artisans through NEEPA HUT. The crafts of our artisans shape the social fabric of their villages, and help them provide for their children and families. It is their sense of community and togetherness that Jennifer hopes to extend through NEEPA HUT’s products.

Our handbag designs are functional and versatile (In other words: very rational), which can prove sometimes that NOT being rational can lead to great triumph.
In 1989, Fabiana Trosman began her career as a graphic designer in South Beach, Miami.
Her love of fashion led to work as a wardrobe designer for TV commercials and music videos in the early 90’s. She later made a jump into production design and art direction on a number of similar projects throughout Europe.
She created her handbag line to please herself. Like most women, she’s obsessed with bags and shoes – and wanted to carry bags that were comfortable, practical, simple and fashionable.
Choosing a name for her new line was simple: During a therapy session one day, her therapist kept repeating that “Feelings are not rational.” Considering herself a very rational person despite it all, she decided to name the line Not Rational.
The line includes a bag that every mother dreams of: a leather diaper bag so hip that even fashionable people without children are happily buying on its own; and something every woman wants: a bag that doubles as a hip computer case, but doesn’t look like one.
When shopping on Not Rational’s website, be sure to use the code “HM20.” Along with raising funds for your schools, that code will also give you 10% off your purchase, and no tax and shipping will be charged.

Stacia has been making small batch, thoughtful products since 1998. Our products are designed with sustainability in mind. We use mostly dead-stock fabrics that would otherwise end up in a landfill. This allows us to create more unique designs and update styles more often. To reduce unwanted stock, we make everything in small batches, designed to fit multiple sizes to avoid excess inventory. To reduce our use of plastic we have eliminated poly bags and use compostable packaging for online orders.
Stacia, founded in 1998 in Brooklyn, NY by designer Stacy Johnson, has always been at the forefront of sustainable fashion and small independent design.
Focused on limited edition designs using dead stock fabrics & yarns since 1998, the Stacia brand has evolved into a beach lifestyle driven collection of essentials for the salty soul. Bungalow fragrance, our signature all-natural and hand-poured scent, will transport you to a tropical island beach getaway with notes of bamboo, fig, and coconut. Our wet + dry travel bags were designed out of a personal need for the perfect surfer’s beach bag on-the-go. Other limited edition designs include beach coverups, dresses, home accessories or whatever the designer happens to be cooking up in her design studio.
**Stacia will be joining the Marketplace from November 20 – December 20, 2020. Be sure to visit, during that time. Use Code: HM20**

THE OVARIAN CANCER CIRCLE, a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, is committed to creating an ever-expanding ring of networking, education and support for women of all ages, their extended families and friends who are affected by ovarian cancer.
THE CIRCLE is dedicated to funding research that will promote and sustain a national dialogue which will lead to a cure for ovarian cancer. Building a strong coalition of doctors, researchers, counselors, families and volunteers will forge a powerful community, creating strength and hope and empowerment.
Paulinda Schimmel Babbini had owned an independent digital imaging business for over 40 years. She is originally from Valley Stream, NY and came to Los Angeles in 1975.
As a mother of two beautiful children, her life was turned upside down in 2004 when her 17 year old daughter, Robin was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer. Robin vigorously fought the battle but lost her dynamic life just 2 ½ years after her diagnosis. She died at the young age of 20!
To honor Robin’s memory and shine a light on her legacy, Paulinda founded the non profit, The Ovarian Cancer Circle/Inspired By Robin Babbini.
It is her life’s passion and commitment to heighten awareness of the signs and symptoms to the community, particularly young women. She has committed enormous efforts to fundraising, organizing seminars, women’s conferences and health fairs.
THE CIRCLE has achieved increasing public civic recognition. Paulinda has been honored with a “Women in Leadership Award” by the City of West Hollywood; KNX Radio “Hero of the Week”; and a “Certificate of Appreciation & Recognition” by the City of Los Angeles.
Moreover, in September 2017, The CIRCLE attained a ‘first-ever’ milestone: The City of Los Angeles proclaimed Sept. 19, 2017 as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day.
And just last month Los Angeles City Hall, the City of West Hollywood’s City Hall & the LAX pylons were illuminated in TEAL, the designated color for ovarian cancer.

I’d love to make you happy with my products and to contribute to our wonderful school!
Hi! Happy Holidays!
I’ve been making masks, mask-chains and dog bows in all the pretty, happy fabrics I have, some of which are vintage and discontinued, and therefore unique. I’m venturing into yarmulkes too. Hope they give you at least a little bit of cheer during these nutsy times.
