Ilene Kaufman Jewelry began in NYC in 1984 after designing a line of hand made jewelry using Swarovski crystals that “took off” in Manhattan. My jewelry was featured in Bloomingdales, Women’s Wear Daily, Brides magazine, Details magazine, boutiques uptown and downtown, as well as Fred Segal in Los Angeles and specialty stores across the country. After four years, it was time to head back to my native Los Angeles, my family and a burning desire to get into the fine jewelry business. With great fortune, I began working for well-known LA based jewelry designer Pepi Kelman and in a short time, I was getting the greatest education I could have asked for. After 25 years of managing her store in Beverly Hills, designing with her and learning all aspects of that business, it was time to move on and pursue my own personal style of handcrafted jewelry. I wanted to incorporate natural and precious gemstones, crystal, cubic zirconia and various mixed metals along with having every piece being hand made… by me. Like all creative endeavors, this has been a journey and an always evolving process. I also wanted to have the opportunity to work personally with clients, creating designs that would often “remake” existing pieces… everything old is new again! “Bless me with the awareness of beauty and the skill to share it with you”. These words resonate with my experience of making and loving jewelry in the simplest and most profound way. I do see beauty everyday, and I seek it out as my creative inspiration. My greatest joy and aspiration is to create jewelry that is not only visually beautiful, but most importantly makes the wearer feel beautiful! Beauty in nature, art and design should be joyous and move us and touch us to our core. I hope that feeling is reflected and experienced the minute a piece of mine touches your body… I hope it will also touch your soul. Currently, Ilene Kaufman Jewelry is a home-based store. My online presence is in the process of changing and becoming more up to date, also to include artworks and other creative projects that I am pursuing at this time. |
